Irish fishermen have claimed they are facing losses of €100m because of EU moves to reduce the size of their fleet.
The chief executive of the Irish Fish Producers' Organisation, Lorcan O'Cinneide, has accused the EU Fisheries Commission of attempting to infringe the property rights of fishermen and wipe out the value of their boats.
He warned that an attempt by the EU to reduce the size of the Irish fleet could hit boat-owners, banks and new projects.
Other fishermen's organisations say the industry is facing a 'nightmare scenario.'
