It is reported that American soldiers in Iraq have killed almost 100 Iraqis in two separate actions.
US troops reportedly killed 27 people after coming under attack northeast of Baghdad, in an area known as Balad.
According to Central Command, US tanks returned fire on attackers who had fired grenades at them.
Earlier, the Americans killed at least 70 people in an another operation.
The US troops say they targeted people being trained at a 'terrorist training camp', some 90 miles northwest of Baghdad.
They say one of their soldiers was wounded in the operation, which started yesterday and is continuing.
The US army said the operation was part of a 'continued effort to eradicate Ba'ath Party loyalists, paramilitary groups and other subversive elements'.
