A row has developed between the transport authorities and road hauliers over the height restrictions in the Dublin Port Tunnel.
Road hauliers have again asked the Minister for Transport to either raise the maximum permitted height for the Port Tunnel or scrap plans for a ban on so-called 'super trucks' in Dublin city centre.
The Irish Road Haulage Association says the proposed ban will reduce the competitiveness of Irish products and increase costs for the consumer.
IRHA spokesman Jimmy Quinn says the so-called 'super-cube vehicles' are on average only 30cm taller than existing trailers.
Earlier, the Dublin City Manager, John Fitzgerald, said the 'super trucks' would not be allowed to travel through the centre of Dublin City just because they could not fit in the Port Tunnel.
