US President, George W. Bush, has urged the Israeli Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, to stay committed to the peace process.
His call comes despite a recent spate of suicide bombings.
Mr Bush said he believed the new Palestinian Prime Minister, Mahmoud Abbas, was a committed reformer.
Earlier today Mr Bush spoke by telephone for the first time with Mr Abbas.
