The United Nations has expressed concern that the US is continuing to hold children at its military detention camp at Guatanamo Bay Base in Cuba.
Three boys detained in Afghanistan - aged from 13 to 16 - are reported to be held at the base.
The UN Special Representative for children in armed conflict, Olara Otunnu, said he would be asking the Americans to release them.
The Commander of the US forces, General Richard Meyers, said those held at Guantanamo Bay have been thoroughly vetted as terrorists and despite their ages, are very dangerous.
The military says they are providing useful intelligence information and are better off at Guantanamo Bay where they are being taught and are receiving psychological treatment.
