Hauliers call for penalty points review

Hauliers are calling on the Minister for Transport, Séamus Brennan, to carry out an urgent review of the penalty points scheme.

Delegates attending the Irish Road Hauliers' Association's annual conference in Cork say sections of the scheme lack common sense.

The Association is demanding stricter enforcement of the law; there are currently 70 complaints with the Department of Transport about illegal hauliers.
