Israelis reject right-wing group's claim

Israeli security sources say they are not taking seriously a claim by a right-wing Jewish group that it was behind today's explosion at a West Bank school.

A group calling itself 'Revenge of the Babies' told Israeli Army radio it was responsible for the explosion, which injured 29 Palestinian children at the school in the village of Al-Jarba, 10km south of Jenin. Four were seriously injured.

AFP reports that an Israeli security source believes the device was brought in by someone who was still in the school at the time of the explosion.

'It wouldn't be the first time the group has claimed responsibility for something they didn't do,' he said.

11 killed in Gaza attacks

Elsewhere, a fourth person has been killed by Israeli troops during an incursion into the northern Gaza Strip.

Three others were shot dead by Israeli troops in the town of Beit Hanun, hours after an air strike killed seven in Gaza city.

The dead included a senior member of the militant group, Hamas. At least 40 were injured in the air raid.

Witnesses said a missile fired by an Israeli warplane appeared to be aimed at a car travelling thought the east of the city, but it also damaged nearby houses.

It was the first Israeli operation in the area since the war on Iraq began nearly three weeks ago.
