Flood lawyers reject 'deal' claim

Lawyers for the Flood Tribunal have rejected what they claim are suggestions that a deal was made with former lobbyist Frank Dunlop.

Counsel for the Tribunal, John Gallagher, said no discussion had taken place with Mr Dunlop about the possible effect of his giving evidence on any future criminal prosecution.

He also rejected claims made yesterday that the Tribunal was operating a witness protection programme for Frank Dunlop.

Mr Gallagher was responding to an application made yesterday by the former FG TD, Liam Cosgrave, who claimed the Tribunal was legally flawed in its handling of Mr Dunlop's evidence.
