It is believed a number of people were killed in a severe cyclone, reaching a wind speed of up to 186 miles an hour, which struck the Solomon Islands in the South Pacific.
Three remote islands were badly hit, leaving a trail of shredded trees and buildings.
Approximately 2,000 people live on the islands.
The Australian Government is organising emergency relief.
