IAEA hindered in monitoring North Korea

The United Nations monitor on nuclear issues has said it can no longer check whether North Korea is diverting nuclear material for weapons development.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says surveillance equipment is being disabled at a reactor near the capital Pyongyang.

The South Korean government says the North has started to repair the reactor which was shut down as part of a deal to end a standoff between Pyongyang and Washington in 1994.
