Iraq has said it unconditionally accepts the United Nations demand to allow weapons inspectors back into the country.
The announcement was made in New York by Iraq's ambassador to the UN, who said the concession was made to protect his country from the threat of war.
Iraq had until Friday to respond to last week's UN Security Council resoution to allow the inspectors back, or face serious consequences
Iraq's UN ambassador Mohammed Aldouri described a six-page letter to the Secretary General's office as 'unconditional, no questions asked'.
'This is a part of our policy that is to protect our country, to protect the nation, to protect our region also from the threat of war which is real,' he said.
The letter was signed by Foreign Minister Naji Sabri.
