Countries wishing to join the European Union will be invited to a "mini-summit" meeting in Denmark next month.
Denmark, which currently holds the EU Presidency, said the candidate states would be briefed on the terms which will be offered to them for membership.
The meeting will follow an EU summit in Brussels at which leaders are due to name the countries set to complete enlargement talks in December in Copenhagen.
