A new alliance of national organisations and individuals has announced their campaign for a Yes vote in the Nice treaty referendum.
The Irish Alliance for Europe has representatives from farming, business and the legal professions, as well as other groups.
The group's chairperson, Bridget Laffin, said the matter was too important to be left to the politicians.
The Alliance says it has established a team of canvassers who will tour the country over the coming weeks. It will also be participating in public debates.
