With just over a month to go to the second referendum on the Nice Treaty, the Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, has said the No vote advocates are trying to scaremonger the Irish electorate.
Mr Ahern said the arguments put forward by the No side for the past 30 years have been false.
Speaking on RTE radio this afternoon, he said that a No vote in the forthcoming referendum will mean uncertainty for Ireland's role in Europe and that this will have an adverse effect on inward investment.
Mr Ahern also rubbished talk of a cut back in government spending.
