Nominations for the Labour Party leadership open today following Ruairí Quinn's decision not to seek a second term in the position.
Nominations will close in two weeks' time.
At least seven possible candidates are still considering entering the race, although none has so far declared.
It is believed most of the candidates may wait until near the end of the nomination period to show their hands.
