George Best undergoes liver transplant

The former Northern Ireland international soccer star, George Best, has undergone a liver transplant operation in London.

The 56-year-old was admitted to the private Cromwell Hospital.

Best has a long history of alcohol-related health problems. The 56-year-old was told to give up drinking or die after he collapsed in early 2000.

He gave up alcohol and had special tablets inserted into his stomach after being warned that just one more drink could kill him.
