The funeral of Afghan Vice President, Haji Abdul Qadir, took place in the capital Kabul, this morning.
Mr Qadir, one of Afghanistan's four vice presidents, was shot dead while being driven out of his ministry compound in Kabul yesterday.
His son-in-law, who was driving the car, was also killed.
Mr Qadir's body is now being flown to his home city of Jalalabad, where it will be buried in ancestral grounds.
The government of Afghanistan has established a team of ministers to investigate the assassination, which has been condemned internationally.
Haji Qadir was one of the most powerful men in eastern Afghanistan and one of the few Pashtun members of the interim government.
During the recent loya jirga which elected Hamid Karzai as Afghan leader, Mr Qadir was appointed minister of reconstruction as well as a vice president of Afghanistan.
The assassination follows an attempt on the life of the country's interim Defence Minister Mohammad Fahim in April.
Tuesday has been declared as a national day of mourning throughout Afghanistan and in Afghan diplomatic missions.
