The Minister for the Environment has said the way the results of electronic voting are announced will be reviewed, following complaints in the three electronic constituencies early today. Noel Dempsey said that he believed the new system was better than the old one, despite a few glitches.
Mr Dempsey was the first to be elected in Meath, followed by party colleagues Mary Wallace and Johnny Brady. Former Fine Gael leader John Bruton was next to be elected, followed by colleague Damien English who took the seat from another Fine Gael candidate, John Farrelly.
