McManus confident about Labour health plans

The Labour party's health spokesperson, Liz McManus, has said she is confident that the party, if elected, could introduce its proposal of free GP care for everyone within two years.

Ms McManus said the party's other proposal, universal health insurance for everyone would take a full government term of five years to implement.

Meanwhile, Labour's Derek McDowell, when asked if there was any prospect of a vote transfer pact with Fine Gael before Friday's election, replied "No".
