The authorities running Dublin Port Tunnel are set to find out tomorrow whether the recent flooding in North Dublin could affect their €448m project. The results of an investigation will be released.
Dublin Port Tunnel sources have dismissed concerns that that a repetition of the flood could damage the Tunnel once it opens.
In a separate development, Iarnród Éireann officials are due to meet Dublin City Council Engineers. They will discuss the possibility that a lack of maintenance of walls on its Spenser Dock property led to flooding in East Wall.
While Independent TD Tony Gregory blamed Iarnród Éireann in the Dáil, the company rejects this criticism. It says that the flooding was caused by unprecedented tidal conditions.
