The Fine Gael Party has launched a national billboard campaign targeting what it says are the Government's failures. The posters will be on display at 250 different sites around the country in the run up to the general election.
Party leader Michael Noonan said that the present Government was in rag order and was a disgrace. Asked about his own party's standing, Mr Noonan said that Fianna Fáil would like to "write us off before the election but that is not going to happen".
He added that it was clear Fianna Fáil would like to "take us off the pitch and were not going off the pitch". Mr Noonan said that despite media perceptions he was level with the present Taoiseach and he predicted, while it would be a tough battle, Fine Gael would win the election.
The national billboard campaign centres on what Fine Gael sees as the failures of the Government in areas like traffic, health care, housing and education.
