Prince Charles attends engagements in North

Britain's Prince Charles has arrived in the North for a series of engagements. His first stop was at Queen's University Belfast, where he met students and staff and officially re-opened a refurbished section of the historic Lanyon Building.

Greeting him at the main building was the Lord Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast, Lady Carswell, and the Lord Mayor of the city, Jim Rodgers.

The Prince viewed a number of exhibit's at the university's Black and White Hall before unveiling a plaque in the restored Great Hall. The Prince was also met university vice chancellor Sir George Bain and Stormont Employment and Learning Minister, Carmel Hanna.

This is the Prince's thirteenth visit to Northern Ireland. The first was in August 1961. The last time he was in the North was in June 2000, when he visited Armagh, Enniskillen, Ballymena and hosted a garden party at Hillsborough Castle.
