The Irish Pharmaceutical Union has urged the Health Minister, Mícheal Martin, to review his decision to abandon pharmacy regulations.
The union says that the new regulations will undermine the viability of smaller pharmacists and lead to take-overs by larger retailers. Last night, the IPU held an emergency meeting in Dublin to draw up a series of immediate actions to be taken in response to the Minister's decision.
Speaking on Morning Ireland, Secretary General of the IPU, Seamus Feely, said that his members are launching a national campaign, which would include a review of all contractual arrangements with the Government.
