The Government has published the independent consultants' report on the Campus and Stadium Ireland Project. The report says that the overall cost to the exchequer, including the relocation of facilities from the site, would be over €1bn.
The Government has requested the Minister for Tourism and Sport, Jim McDaid, to report to it on the implications of the report's recommendations and options, according to a statement. The Government says that it remains convinced that a stadium project at Abbotstown is both desirable and feasible.
Meanwhile, Mr McDaid has admitted that there had been clear divisions between the Coalition partners on the sports stadium but that these had now been resolved. He also said that the independent consultants raised some issues of concern and these will be taken on board in the future.
