Cyprus aims to solve problems ahead of EU entry

The leaders of the divided Greek and Turkish communities on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus have agreed to meet three times a week. They aim to work towards solving their differences ahead of entry into the European Union.

The agreement was reached at a meeting in Nicosia between the Cypriot President, Glafcos Clerides, and the Turkish Cypriot leader, Rauf Denktash.
