Haas meets Cowen to discuss North

President Bush's Special Envoy to Northern Ireland met the Minister for Foreign Affairs in Dublin today. Richard Haas, who began a visit to Ireland this morning, met Brian Cowen to discuss Northern Ireland.

Before the talks, Mr Haas described the murder of the Catholic postal worker Danny McColgan as truly appalling. He said the Police Service of Northern Ireland and political leaders had to do everything they could to de-legitimise such activities.

Mr Haas said that what was important was that a majority of all communities had to support the peace process for it to succeed.
