Omagh report responses crucial, says Cowen

The Foreign Affairs Minister has said that official responses to the report on the Omagh bomb inquiry must be transparent, if public confidence is to be maintained. Brian Cowen was speaking as he arrived in Stormont for a review of North/South bodies.

Mr Cowen said that it was vital that the views of all parties were heard before a final decision was taken on the report.

The report by Police Ombudsman, Nuala O'Loan, said that the judgement of the Chief Constable, Sir Ronnie Flanagan, in the Omagh bomb inquiry significantly reduced the chances of catching the Real IRA killers.
