The anti-abortion Mother and Child Campaign has said that the Government's abortion proposals are unacceptable in their current form. Justin Barrett of the Mother and Child Campaign said that the proposals were not pro-life.
He added that there was no middle ground on the subject and that the Government's plans for a referendum would only antagonise liberal and conservative Ireland.
Mr Barrett also defended the group's billboard campaign which includes photographs of Bertie Ahern and Mícheal Martin with the message "Don't let them legalise experimentation on babies". The billboard campaign is due to start tomorrow.
The Mother and Child Campaign evolved from, and is associated with, the militant anti-abortion Youth Defence organisation.
