Israeli helicopter gun ships have targeted a Palestinian government compound in the southern Gaza Strip in retaliatory strikes for last weekend's suicide bombings and mortar attacks on Jewish settlements.
Offices of the Palestinian intelligence services and Force 17, the bodyguard unit of Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, have been badly hit in the attacks.
