The parish priest of Ardoyne, Fr Aidan Troy, has said that the situation arising from the protests at the Holy Cross National School is deteriorating rapidly. He was speaking after an hour long meeting with the Taoiseach at government buildings.
Fr Troy told reporters it was totally unacceptable that little children were daily put in a dangerous situation and it was something all sides of the political divide would have to try to deal with.
In a statement, the Taoiseach said that the children of Holy Cross had been subjected to appalling treatment. He said that the protests should be brought to an end immediately before even more damage was inflicted on the innocent victims of the dispute.
