Palestinians killed in renewed Gaza fighting

Three Palestinians were killed and more than 20 injured in overnight fighting between Israeli soldiers and Palestinian gunmen in the Gaza Strip. The fighting took place near the town of Rafah, close to the Egyptian border.

It broke out only hours after the Palestinian President, Yasser Arafat, and the Israeli Foreign Minister, Shimon Peres, agreed at talks in Gaza to renew their efforts to implement a truce plan.
