Students with disabilities demand better access

Hundreds of third-level students from around the country protested in Dublin this morning about the lack of accessible buses and trains for people with disabilities. Dozens of students who depend on wheelchairs were among the protestors who proceeded from Connolly Train Station to the Dáil.

They stopped at a number of key transport centres along the way. They say that public transport should be for everyone, and should not exclude those who are blind or have mobility problems.

The protestors claim many young people with disabilities are unable to go to college because very little effort has been made to adapt public transport to their needs.
