Afghanis fearing US attack flee Kabul

Observers in Kabul have reported the exodus of people from the city is increasing amidst fears of an imminent attack by the United States.

The international aid agency UNICEF has warned that millions of children's lives are at risk in Afghanistan. Most international aid agencies have closed down their operations there and the UN World Food Programme has had to stop food shipments due to the fear of US reprisals for last week's attacks in America.

The Pakistani leader has appeared on national television to explain why he had offered use of Pakistani airspace to the US in the event of an attack on Afghanistan. General Pervez Musharraf is coming under increasing pressure from Islamic fundamentalists in Pakistan as the refugee problem on the border with Afghanistan increases.
