New York flights arrive in Ireland

Two Aer Lingus planes from New York landed at Dublin Airport earlier today. A Continental Airlines plane, flight CO22 from Newark, has also arrived.

From 6am this morning anxious family and friends waited for their loved ones to disembark. At 6 27am, the first Dublin flight, EI 2102, touched down. There were emotional scenes with tears and smiles in equal amount as passengers finally drifted into the arrivals hall.

One mother clung to her son, saying she had thought she would never see him again. Another anxious mother waited for her daughter and her Australian fiancée. Until 11pm last night, the family feared that their wedding, due to take place tomorrow, would have to be postponed.
