US President George W Bush has urged Israel's Prime Minister to make progress on ending the violence between Israelis and Palestinians.
In a 10-minute phone call, the President urged Ariel Sharon to take advantage of diplomatic channels between Israeli Foreign Minister, Shimon Peres, and Palestinian leader, Yasser Arafat.
Shimon Peres and Yasser Arafat were due to meet on Tuesday but the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington forced a delay.
