Representatives of Protestant residents from the Glenbryn area of north Belfast met the Holy Cross school's Board of Governors this morning. It is believed two facilitators from the Unionist community accompanied the residents.
This is the seventh day of the dispute over the route taken by Catholic children to the school. Protestant residents are objecting to Catholic schoolgirls walking down the Ardoyne Road to the school. This morning's protest on the Ardoyne road in north Belfast was peaceful.
Protestant residents held a silent protest while the children passed. Protesters held up posters declaring that the man suspected of last year's murder of Protestant taxi driver, Trevor Kell, was not welcome in that area. Some of the residents turned their backs.
After they dropped the children off at the school, the adults, some pushing babies in prams, were then again met with a barrage of whistles, horns and sirens. This mirrored yesterday's protest but was a far cry from the disturbances seen last week.
Representatives of the Protestant residents are due to meet the Northern Secretary, Dr John Reid, this evening to discuss the issue.
