The Pontoon Bridge Hotel in County Mayo, which was closed down as result of a food poisoning scare, has re-opened today. Proprietor Ann Geary said that they had been given the all clear to re-open following an extensive investigation by the Western Health Board.
Over 200 people reported food poisoning symptoms after attending functions in the Hotel. The Health Board says that it believed the illnesses were caused by a water borne virus. However, it still has not definitely established the cause of the problem.
More than 100 Dutch travel agents are to visit the hotel tomorrow as part of tourism initiative.
