Investigation into Rosslare ferry incident

An investigation is underway as to how a ferry, which had been docking in Rosslare harbour, came to damage a lifeboat facility. The incident happened when the Stena Line, Koningin Beatrix, which was sailing from Fishguard with 175 passengers on board, was reversing into the berth in the harbour at around 7am.

A spokesperson for Stena Line said the vessel experienced a temporary, partial, loss of power and damaged a lifeboat pen, which was used to hold the lifeboats at the pier. No one was injured and both Stena Line and the Department of the Marine are investigating the matter.
