The Government has announced the setting up of a public sector agency to deliver the driver testing service. The decision follows a review of the service by consultants Price Waterhouse Coopers, which identified the establishment of such an agency as the best option to deliver an improved service.
The Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, Robert Molloy TD, said that much progress had been made in the last year in reducing waiting times for tests, which now stand at an average of 12 weeks. The new agency will be based in Ballina, County Mayo.
