The Gardaí and the RUC have renewed their appeals for information that could help to convict those who carried out the Omagh bombing. On the third anniversary of the bombing, senior police officers from both sides of the border held a joint news conference in the town to make their appeal.
Twenty-nine people were killed in the 1998 attack when a Real IRA bomb exploded in the town. Families of the victims held an inter-denominational service in the town's the Garden of Remembrance today.
Last Friday, some of the families began a civil action against the Real IRA and five men allegedly linked to it. They are seeking compensation from dissident Republicans who are allegedly behind the bombing.
Michael Gallagher's son, Michael, was killed in the bombing. He said that the families are encouraged by the ongoing efforts to bring those responsible to justice.
