Hamilton released without charge

A former Tory minister has been released without charge after he and his wife were arrested today in connection with and allegation of serious sexual assault.

The solicitor for Neil Hamilton and his wife, Christine, said that they vehemently denied allegations that they were present at, and had committed indecent acts, while a rape was being committed. The Hamiltons said that the allegations were monstrous.

Earlier this year, Mr Hamilton was declared bankrupt in the wake of his failed 1999 libel trial, when he sued the owner of Harrods, Mohammed Al Fayed, over the cash-for-questions claims.
