Sri Lanka Air Force personnel suspended

Eleven Air Force personnel have been suspended in Sri Lanka over a breach of security. The breach led to the guerrilla attack on the country's only international airport last week.

The eleven includes the commander of the military air base that adjoins the airport and two officers in charge of security. The raid on the complex by Tamil Tiger rebels resulted in the deaths of 14 guerrillas and seven government troops.

Hundreds of millions of pounds' worth of commercial and military aircraft were destroyed.
