The RUC is investigating reports that gunfire was heard during trouble between Nationalists and Loyalists in North Belfast last night. Homes in Newington Street and Tigers Bay came under attack during the violence.
Bricks, bottles and metal bolts were thrown and an explosive device caused damage to a house on the catholic side of the peace line at Tigers Bay.
In a separate incident, two women and three young children escaped injury after a pipebomb was thrown through the living room window of a house in the Old Park area of North Belfast.
The bomb caught fire, but it is not thought to have exploded. One of the women managed to put the fire out. No one was injured.
