The Referendum Commission has rejected a claim by the Fine Gael TD, Alan Dukes, that its leaflet on the Nice Treaty is "fatally flawed". A copy of the leaflet, which also describes the two other referenda, is being delivered to every household in the State.
Mr Dukes, the international vice-chairman of the European Movement, said that the leaflet made no mention of EU enlargement. He claimed that the Commission was failing to fully inform the public. The Commission said that the Constitutional amendment relating to the Nice Treaty made no reference to EU enlargement. It said that enlargement would be referred to in later material.
