Four killed in Dublin Port collision named

The four people killed in a collision between their yacht and a cargo ship in Dublin Port have been named. They were Rowan Smith, from Terenure, Eleanor Cullen, from Foxrock, and Mark Styles, from Templeogue. Mr Styles' brother Glen is still missing. All four were in their forties and each was married with two children. A survivor, named as Philip Daly, is recovering in St Michael's Hospital in Dun Laoghaire.

The 30-foot yacht, named 'The Debonair' and based in Howth, collided with a British coaster, 'The Bluebird', shortly before 3am this morning near the entrance to Dublin Port. It is understood that some of the crew members were asleep below deck.

Dublin Port was closed to shipping earlier in the day, leaving two passenger ferries and five cargo ships stranded in Dublin Bay. The channel has since re-opened. There is still no clear indication as to what caused this disaster. Investigations have been launched by the Port Authority and the Department of the Marine.
