Hutchinson not to contest election in North Belfast

Billy Hutchinson has announced that he will not contest the forthcoming Westminster election in North Belfast. The Progressive Unionist party Assembly member said that he did not want to split the Unionist vote in the constituency and allow a Nationalist or Republican to win the electoral battle.

The sitting MP for the area, Cecil Walker, from the UUP is fighting a tough battle to hold off challenges from the anti-Agreement DUP candidate, Nigel Doods, as well as Sinn Féin's Gerry Kelly and Alban McGuinness from the SDLP.
