The Italian politician and former European Commissioner Emma Bonino has gone on hunger strike in protest at what she claims is unfair media coverage. Ms Bonino, one of the leaders of the Radical Party, claims that it is being excluded from coverage of the general election, due to take place on the 13 May. Hundreds of other party members are joining her in the hunger and thirst strike, which is now in its third day.
