Aer Lingus clerical and operative staff announce industri

Aer Lingus clerical and operative staff have announced plans for industrial action over a claim for pay equity. Around 3,000 workers, members of the SIPTU union, will stage a series of 24-hour strikes beginning on Friday (30 March), and continuing on 6 and 12 April. The industrial action follows the airline's rejection of the claim for pay equity with other staff in the airline.

SIPTU Branch Secretary, Owen Reidy, explained that the union had lodged a claim with the company on Thursday, 22 March, seeking the same pay terms as those recently agreed with Aer Lingus cabin crew. Specifically, the union was seeking: 15-point pay scale, additional £1,230 on the top of the pay scale, an increase of 20% in differentials and the option of retirement at 55 years of age.
