Waterford Regional Airport is facing immediate closure. A special meeting of the Board of the airport is to take place later today. A spokesman confirmed that the airport needs £500,000 this year from the Government but has only received a conditional allocation of £165,000 from the Department of Enterprise. It is understood that in the absence of immediate support, the Board will be told the airport must close forthwith.
