The M50 was closed tonight until ten o'clock due to an investigation into an accident, which occurred yesterday. Earlier today, Gardaí named the three men who died following the four-car collision. They were 19-year-old Jason Nugent, from Blanchardstown; 27-year-old Robert Fitzsimons from Blakestown; and a 35-year-old priest, Fr David Boylan, who was a native of Skerries. He was the Dublin diocesan adviser on post-primary education and a parish chaplain at St Agnes' in Crumlin.
The crash happened on the M50 southbound route close to the Finglas turn-off shortly before 10pm. In County Kilkenny, a motorist died after his car hit a railway bridge in the Ballyhale area. Two other people were injured. The accident brings the number of people killed on the roads since Friday to ten. The number of people killed on the roads this year is 83.
